Check out the EffordTakeaPart website Click me Or the banner Lifting the Fog & Enterprising Efford Thursday Oct 27 2011, 12pm-4pm - Torridge Way, Efford A chance to make some art, watch some film, meet with your community, buy locally, learn new skills and be on radio! Lifting the Fog and Enterprising Efford is coming to you! Lifting the Fog - A series of visual arts workshops will be held, along with training opportunities and radio broadcasts, culminating with a ‘micro’ arts festival. The focus for ‘Lifting the Fog’ will be FreesoundFM - Plymouth Arts Centre’s temporary radio station – which will orbit the various districts, bringing with it the chance for local people to take over the airwaves with pre-recorded material, live interviews and programmes made on the day with guidance from sound and radio artists Mark Vernon and Neil Rose. It is hoped that each day will provide a portrait of a community through the voices of its citizens and the sounds of their locality. The station will also include contributions from artists involved in British Art Show 7, the ‘Constellation’ programme and the artists’ Fringe, as well as activities ranging from film screenings to hands-on workshops. There will even be a Grow Efford apple-pressing session! The ‘Lifting the Fog’ project can be followed by listening to FreesoundFM on 87.9 fm or online www.freesound.org.uk. The radio station will go live on 22nd October and will continue broadcasting each day until 28th October. Enterprising Efford - A wonderful new event for Efford led by the Efford Community Vision Group where Torridge Way will become a bustling market place for a day. Pannier market stands will line the street with traders large and small. Grow Efford and Table-top sellers with local produce and crafts, new and upcoming self-starters and entrepreneurs will tout for business and a car boot sale will encourage people to sell gems from their lofts and sheds. The City Enterprise Park and Working Links and Whizz Kids will be setting up stalls to give tips and information about setting up an enterprise, setting up becoming self-employed and making new career choices. The day is part of a wider series of traveling arts festivals and recording events across the city and we would like to see you come out to as many or few as you like to get a flavour of each neighbourhood.
