Hello from Take A Part,


Please find below March events for Take A Part's Grow Efford Project.  Grow Efford is a programme engaging the Efford community in growing, eating, harvesting, cooking and coming together around food.   

Saturday 17 March  2-5pm
Community Growing Hub Session
Allotment site immediately behind Derwent Avenue, entrance at the top of Laira Steps FREE All welcome

Preparing for planting at the new community growing hub, come along to find out more and a bite to eat. Contact Phillip Bennett (mr_chuffed@hotmail.com) for more info. and how to get involved.

Also come along to meet Belle and Rufus an artist and designer/maker who have been commissioned to help get Grow Efford moving by building the SHED ON WHEELS… a cooking, meeting and eating space which will take the ideas and themes of Grow Efford (cooking, growing, harvesting, eating, sharing) out to other parts of Plymouth. Belle and Rufus will be around during and after the session with tea and cakes to talk about the project and are looking forward to sharing ideas.

Shed on Wheels is funded by Cooperative Membership and Stepping Stones to Nature.  

Please remember that the Grow Efford Community Allotment is open every Saturday (weather permitting) from 2-5pm for the community to learn to grow, support positive change and develop better relationships.  Everyone is always welcome.

Spring, Seeds and Soup
Efford Library, Torridge Way FREE All welcome

Come and plant out the library garden with veg, salad, herbs and fruit as well as learning how to sprout your own seeds at home. Sample delicious seasonal soup and take some seeds away to plant at home.

A daytrip to the beautiful Tamar Valley to visit Hamas (Harrowbarrow and Metherill Agricultural Society) a community group who grow a wide variety of crops on a 7 acre site and then share these out. We will be planting onions with them, finding out more about how the group works and in return for our work will get loads of onions to take back to Efford in Autumn. Please bring a picnic lunch.

Grow Efford is a programme engaging the Efford community in growing, eating, harvesting, cooking and coming together around food.  It supports the Masterplan for Efford by improving involvement in and improvements to health and greenspace within the community and has been developed with artist Anne Marie Culhane.

TAKE A PART AND GROW EFFORD

Take A Part is an arts in the public realm project for the Efford area of Plymouth supporting the regeneration of the community.  Take A Part is a partnership project between the Heart of Efford Community Partnership, Plymouth Arts Centre and Plymouth City Council.

You will probably have seen these guys on the streets of Efford engaging with the public building up a trust between us. They are involving themselves in community issues in the area which has made a change to the way we all go about our lives in Efford.
