Read his story here.

Hello, I am the Scheme Manager of Hurrell Court – which is a Sheltered Housing Scheme for the Elderly.

I live on site with my wife Rachel and daughter Hannah and been living here since the 1st of June 1987 . We are real Plymouth folk and brought up in the Lipson area prior to moving into Hurrell Court . I have over 26 years of experience with Caring for the Elderly since 1980. This was in three adjoining Residential Homes in Queens Road – Lipson. This was where I met my wife Rachel as well as her Mother used to work for us as a Night Care Assistant and Rachel followed on shortly as day / night care assistant. I was Senior Manager, the proprietors were my sister and her husband.

Over the past year and few months my thoughts have been turning towards the elderly housebound – lonely and elderly who have no family or friends living nearby in the Efford area that are missing out on seeking help and advice. I feel that these people are losing out and maybe also stuck as to where to go for help of any kind - (and beyond this boundary if this what is required and needed)

So along with some great help from the PCSO's – Police and Mr Stuart Dan - Church Leader – Elder of the Efford Christian Fellowship – Torridge Way – Efford - a day has been set for: Monday the 21st April 2008

This Church has very kindly allowed a meeting for refreshments and also a Centre for anyone who needs help with Forms / Financial Advice / Making a Will / Housing Benefit Claims Forms, and so much more hopefully will be on offer – or just come along for company someone to talk and with.

If you are housebound – lonely and feel shy – awkward about meeting strangers in this way then please come in for a chat.

Or In Touch Befriending – 07970 – 406476 or Care Direct on Free-phone 0800 – 444 – 000

Please - do not feel that just because you have reached a certain age in your life and no one cares – I care for you and you're Sell by Date: is not up yet!! Help is at hand so please seek and we will get help to you.

We are not able to help you unless you let us know what help you need and we will take it from there.

No one will force anything upon you and we are just here to be friendly and offer Free Friendly Help and Advice Service to you in your home or in this Church building along Torridge Way .

All we are using is the Church building for this Advice Centre and in no way or form of a Church Orientation Service or anyone will be preaching to you - unless you would like some Counseling or Spiritual Guidance of some kind or sort help in this manner?
